In a library, no shelf stays empty for long. Like nature, libraries abhor a vacuum.

There is a weight to be “carried” both literally and metaphorically: the weight of culture. Every library is, by nature, an unfinished creation — a constant work in progress. Every empty shelf hints at the books yet to come. And they will come. The library shelves will fill, and more will be needed: more books, more shelves. Because when everything we are living through today has passed, perhaps we will finally be ready to re-evaluate the role and value of culture, of learning, and of knowledge.
