Some projects are born from the meeting of people united by a common goal: to create value through space. This is one of them – a library furniture<\/strong> project that crossed an ocean to bring design and dignity to one of the most challenging corners of Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n\t In the Mangueira favela, Rio de Janeiro, the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Meninas & Mulheres do Morro<\/strong> works daily to support girls and women in need. Every day it welcomes children and teenagers, offering them a safe place to study after school, read, learn and grow.<\/p>\n In a community where 80%<\/strong> of favela residents cannot read or write<\/strong> and compulsory schooling does not exist, a space dedicated to reading and education is not simply a refuge, it is a concrete prospect for the future.<\/p>\n The project grew from an encounter between Roberto Milani<\/strong>, CEO of GAM, and Avv. Chiara Parolin<\/strong>, already active in community support initiatives, with the decisive contribution of Adriana S. Thiago<\/strong>, a volunteer at the association and local coordinator for the entire project.<\/p>\n The association already had a library, but the spaces were dilapidated and the school library furniture<\/strong> entirely inadequate. The recent renovation of the building provided the right opportunity to completely rethink the environment, and transform it into something worthy of the people who inhabit it every day.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t GAM managed the entire process, from library furniture design<\/strong> through to supply and full installation.<\/p>\n Once the renovation was complete, Arch. Anna Prandi<\/strong> from GAM’s Libraries division developed the architectural and fit-out project.<\/p>\n The library design<\/strong> took into account the specific needs of a diverse user base – children and teenagers of different ages – with the aim of creating a space capable of supporting individual reading, group meetings and collective learning. Functional, welcoming, inclusive.<\/p>\n The Export team, with Valentina Marocchi and Mauro Leoni<\/strong>, coordinated the furniture supply: modular library shelving<\/strong> from the Modular range, reading nooks, display units, tables, G-type chairs and soft furnishings. A selection designed to last and adapt to the daily life of a community.<\/p>\n On-site installation has been overseen by Ezio Terziotti<\/strong>, GAM’s Site Manager, with the support of local fitters. The project concluded with the official inauguration of the new library.<\/p>\n\t Today the library of the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Meninas & Mulheres do Morro is a living, modern and inclusive space<\/strong>. A place where children from the community can read, meet, learn and imagine a different future.<\/p>\n For GAM, projects like this demonstrate how library furniture<\/strong> – when the result of careful design and quality supply – can become an instrument of social change. Design in the service of communities: not just aesthetics, but real impact.<\/p>\n Together we planted a seed.
